Happy Tuesday! Today I have swatches of Bees Knees Lacquer's newest offerings. This collection was inspired by the Fever series by Karen Marie Moning. This month's release is going to be a little different because they have broken this collection into 2 parts, Fever Creatures which are Unicorn Pee finishes, and Fever Quotes which are Shimmer finishes. In that spirit, I have broken my post up into two as well. Today I'm starting with the Unicorn Pee Polishes because let's face it, that's what we've all been waiting for!
The Crimson Hag
The Crimson Hag is a rich crimson with OG UP (red to green) ($15).
Wowee wow wow wow! This is a beauty! The polish basically applied itself and I didn't experience and kind of running pooling or staining. The Crimson Hag is pretty opaque on it's own. I did three coats and I was happy with the coverage, but if you like to extend the life your polish by using less of it, it should be pretty easy to find a cream you could wear underneath. The Zoya shades Janel or Sheri seem like good options for undies.
Balor
Balor is a deep, rich orange with OG UP (red to green) ($15).
Another beautiful polish. Oranges aren't usually my thing but I really enjoyed this one, it looked pretty good on me, and it's gonna be great for summer. The formula was great and there was no running pooling or staining. I did 3 coats for this one as well and I believe it would be pretty easy to find an undie for Balor if you prefer. Zoya's Thandie or Paz perharps?
Shade
Shade is a bright sunny yellow with gold to green sibling UP ($15).
This guy is the Winnie the Pooh yellow of my dreams! I may have to get a backup of this one, it's gonna get a lot of use this summer. The formula was great, I didn't experience any running, pooling, or staining. Shade is a little more sheer than the previous two polishes. I could still see my nail line after 3 coats so you may want to find an undie for this one if you don't like nail line. Zoya's Pippa may do the job.
The Royal Hunters
The Royal Hunters is a blackened forest green with OG UP (red to green) ($15).
My favorite from the collection, green is one of my favorite colors. The formula for this polish was perfect; no running, pooling, or staining. This was a touch sheer, I could still see my nail line after 3 coats. If you're looking for an undie for this, I'd try Cirque Colors
McKittrick.
Hoar Frost King
Hoar Frost King is an icy denim blue with OG UP (red to green) ($15).
This is a really pretty and unique shade of blue that's great for this period in between Winter and Spring, especially in places that haven't started to warm up yet. All the formulas in this collection were good and this is no exception. There was no running, pooling, or staining, but this was probably the most sheer in the collection. I'll definitely be wearing an undie with this one. Zoya Breezi seems pretty close but not exact.
The Unseelie King
The Unseelie King is a royal violet with OG UP (red to green) ($15).
Pretty doesn't begin to describe this polish. The UP shimmer is the perfect contrast to the bright violet base. Once again, there was no running, pooling, or staining. I could see my nail line after 3 coats so I recommend an undie if that bothers you. Maybe Zoya Chiara?
Rhino Boys
Rhino Boys is a smoky eggplant with OG UP (red to green) ($15).
This collection is very much an all seasons collection in my opinion. Rhino Boys is gonna look great all year. It even has potential as a kind of fun neutral for more formal environments. The formula was great, I didn't experience any running, pooling, or staining and this polish was still sheer after 3 coats which is to be expected with any unicorn pee polish.
The Book
The Book is a plum brown with green to blue sibling UP ($15).This is super vampy and right up my alley. The polish applied well, no running, no pooling, and no staining. This one was sheer after 3 coats but there was not as much visible nail line as some other polishes in the collection because of the dark color. You might be fine with 3 coats but you also may want an undie. I think Zoya's Nina would be a good fit.
These beauties will be on sale Friday March 26th @ noon. Each polish will be $15 on release and there is a cap of 300 for all the UP polishes. There will also be a customer appreciation polish which I will have swatches of in my post for the Fever Quotes polishes. Last but not least, there will be a sitewide sale of 15% off!
