[PR Sample]
Hi friends! I have swatches of Bees Knees Lacquer's April Release to share with you all. This is only part 1 of the collection and the second half will drop in May. These polishes will launch on April 30th at noon EDT.
The Crown
Described as the burgundy sister to the Mask and the Harp, this shifts antique gold
to green to blue with hints of purple at the extremes. ($13) I found that the burgundy was mostly visible in indirect lighting. In direct lighting, the polish looks mostly gold. The finish of this polish is also similar to Don't Go To Sleep which was/will be released through polish pickup on 04/02. The formula was great; no running, pooling, or staining. It was opaque in two coats and there were some brushstrokes while wet, but they went away as the polish dried.
The Mask
Described as a deep cool-toned violet with a subtle gold shimmer that abruptly shifts sapphire and glowing emerald. ($13) The formula was great; no running, pooling, or staining. It was opaque in two coats and there were some brushstrokes while wet, but they went away as the polish dried.
Kelpie
Described as chartreuse green with glowy red to purple iridescent flakes. ($12.50) The formula was great; no running, pooling, or staining but it was still a bit sheer after three coats. It was still completely wearable on its own despite being sheer but you might want an undie if nail line is a deal breaker for you. Kelpie was sheer enough on at one coat that I think it would work as a topper, the tinted base would add a bit of color to whatever polish you put it over though.
Keep Reaching Out Your Hand
Described as a pale gray polish with glowy red shimmer and holo flakes. ($12) I'm showing this in three coats, but I think two coats would be enough for everyday wear. he formula was great; no running, pooling, or staining
Valkyries
Described as a light aqua with orange to green shimmer. ($12) If you're wondering how this compares to 1984, I have been informed that this is more blue than 1984. The
formula was great; no running, pooling, or staining but it was still a
bit sheer after three coats. It was completely wearable on its own
despite being sheer but you might want an undie if a small amount of nail line is a deal
breaker for you. My favorite in the collection!
The Harp
Described as an updated House on Haunted Chill, this is a rich mid-toned blue with shimmer that shifts from white gold to gold to emerald to bright blue. ($13) The formula was great; no running, pooling, or staining. It was opaque in two coats and there were some brushstrokes while wet, but they went away as the polish dried. My second favorite! I took a break from swatching so I could wear this for a day.
Made
Described as a periwinkle with glowy orange to gold iridescent flakes. ($12.50). The formula was great; no running, pooling, or staining but it was still quite a bit sheer after three coats. I enjoyed the polish on it's own, but I would definitely recommend an undie for this one if you want it to get anywhere near opaque. To my eye, Zoya's Aire is spot on for the base of this polish. Made could also make a great topper in one coat over another color but the tint in the base would add some color to whatever you put it over.
Like Calls To Like
Described as a bright turquoise with glowy green to blue iridescent flakes. ($12.50)
The
formula was great; no running, pooling, or staining but it was still
quite a bit sheer after three coats. Just like with made, I enjoyed the polish on it's own,
but I would definitely recommend an undie for this one if you want it to
get anywhere near opaque. You could try a to match the base of the polish for and opaque look, or try it as a topper. I think it would be beautiful either way.
